by jihadists Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik (left), Donald Trump (right)
called for "a complete and total shutdown of Muslims entering the United
States until our representatives can figure out what is going on."

On December 7, 2015, U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump's campaign
released a press statement calling "for a complete and total shutdown of
Muslims entering the United States until our representatives can figure out
what is going on." He was publicly saying what an increasing number of
Americans over the years have apparently begun to think about Muslims and
Islam in terms of the "clear and present" danger to their security
and their country.
A press release explained the reason for the ban:
"Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to
anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension. Where this hatred comes from and
why we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand
this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the
victims (sic) of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in
Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life."
