A Jihad to Free Morsi?

http://frontpagemag.com/2013/ryan-mauro/a-muslim-brotherhood-jihad-to-free-morsi/

morsi2_2257836bHamas has issued orders to free former Egyptian President Morsi and other Muslim Brotherhood prisoners in Egypt, according to a letter allegedly written by the terrorist group’s military wing that was published in the Arab press. The stated end goal is “establishing an Islamic Caliphate;” a goal that can only be achieved by wiping Israel off the map.
A copy of the document was translated by an Egyptian-American source. It was originally published on July 14 by an Egyptian newspaper named El-Fagr, or “The Dawn.” The news agency says it was given the letter by a source inside Egypt’s Defense Ministry. It is dated July 10, 2013 and is a declaration of the Hamas military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades. It carries the watermark of a Colonel Sabry Yassin.
The source provided the following translation:
Announcement and invitation to the “General Trumpet”:’
Jihadi brothers, pure saints/commanders of brigades in Gaza, Sinai and inside Egypt,
In light of the demands of the current events that are full of severe challenges, and for what our responsibility that has been thrust upon our shoulders to fulfill the Islamic people’s dream of establishing an Islamic Caliphate;
and in light of the seriousness of the current events and the repercussions that befall our brothers and their Jihadi leaders, the Supreme Guide and members of the Muslim Brotherhood (May God be pleased with them and may He help them be victorious);
and in light of how serious and dangerous the situation facing our Grand Islamic Project and what faces our Jihadi and just President Mohammed Morsi, the imprisoned prisoner of war, the one who has been arrested by the hands of the traitors and the military, the signatories of the Camp David Accord.
For that we invite you all to unite, organize and be prepared and let the trumpets blow awaiting and declaring the house is upon us! Head towards the barracks, the center, the headquarters of the brigades to teach them a lesson and to free our prisoners from the prisons of darkness and to achieve truth and justice, to make religion victorious and to return the situation to the right path.
God is our aim, His Prophet is our example, the Koran our constitution and death in the case of God is the highest and noblest desire.
For it is a victorious Jihad/martyrdom.

The source points out that the “General Trumpet” is a reference to an angels’ blowing of a trumpet before a significant event. This should be seen as the precursor to a major confrontation. He also notes that Morsi is referred to as a “prisoner of war,” which means that Hamas now views Egypt to be in a state of war/jihad.
In January, the Clarion Project wrote about a video of Hamas leaders pledging allegiance to the Muslim Brotherhood and its jihad. There are reports that the Muslim Brotherhood is considering forming a new terrorist group in Egypt and that seven Hamas terrorists were arrested in Cairo preparing car bombs.
Egypt’s Coptic Christians are also affected by the letter’s contents. At the press conference announcing the removal of Morsi as President, Defense Minister al-Sisi stood alongside Coptic Patriarch Tawadros and Al-Azhar University Grand sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb. A female Christian is also in the new Cabinet.
Shortly after the removal of Morsi, a video was posted online of the former President’s supporters declaring their intent to become suicide bombers and to burn Christians. The blaming of Christians for Morsi’s downfall has caused aseries of sectarian attacks. A top Brotherhood cleric named Safwat Hegazy warned Christians of their fate if they challenge Morsi’s rule all the way back in December 2012:
“A message to the church of Egypt, from an Egyptian Muslim: I tell the church — by Allah, and again, by Allah — if you conspire and unite with the remnants [opposition] to bring Morsi down, that will be another matter…. our red line is the legitimacy of Dr. Muhammad Morsi. Whoever splashes water on it, we will splash blood on him,” he said.
Hegazy currently has a warrant out for his arrest.
The entry of trained Hamas terrorists onto the scene increases the Christians’ peril exponentially, given Hamas’s persecution of Christians in Gaza. Mandatory gender segregation could force four Christian schools to close because they lack the funding to build separate facilities.
The Egyptian government has begun a criminal investigation of Morsi on charges of inciting violence, spying and destroying the economy. There are rumors that Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohammed Badie has fled to Libya in reaction to a warrant issued for his arrest on July 10. The Egyptian government has arrested former Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mahdi Akef; the Brotherhood’s original presidential candidate, Khairat el-Shater; and Saad el-Katatni, the leader of the Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party.
Most of the Muslim Brotherhood-linked groups were curiously silent once Morsi was overthrown. The Islamic Circle of North America is outraged at Morsi’s removal and is demanding that the U.S. suspend aid to the Egyptian military.
The U.S. and German governments called for the release of Morsi and an end to “the politically motivated arbitrary arrests of the Muslim Brotherhood members.” The U.S. has taken the wrong side. As former Egyptian Islamist Tawfik Hamid explains, Morsi was removed by a popularly-supported revolution, not a coup. The opponents of the Muslim Brotherhood have been vocal on the streets about their anger over American policy.
The White House has condemned the Muslim Brotherhood’s “explicit” call to violence. The Brotherhood says it is committed to non-violent protests, but is talking about forming a “Free Egyptian Army,” a reference to the Free Syrian Army currently waging a civil war against the Assad dictatorship.
If the Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas formally begin a jihad, as this alleged letter indicates is about to happen, then there will no longer be a pretense for not declaring the Brotherhood as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
