The President may have classified the Benghazi debacle as a “phony” scandal, but details continue to emerge and it’s looking worse and worse for the administration.  According to CNN, there are now 35 Americans known to be working at the consulate the night of the attack. This includes an unknown number of CIA operatives - possibly as many as 21 - who were located in the building called “the annex.”  That building is rumored to have been run directly by the Central Intelligence Agency.

...and to this day, no one knows exactly what they were doing there.

Ever since the attack, rumors have been swirling that the United States was illegally running surface-to-air missiles out of Benghazi, through Turkey, and into the hands of Syrian rebels.  The State Department - whose employees account for the remainder of the Benghazi staff - claims that it was only helping the Libyan government destroy aging, unstable weaponry left over from the Gadhafi years.  However, they’ve told CNN specifically that they “can’t speak for any other agencies.”
So, the question becomes: “Was the CIA running weapons to Syrian rebels, and if so, were they arming Syrian factions controlled by Al Qaeda?”

We may never know, because the government is going to extraordinary lengths to keep the operation a secret. CNN’s sources are claiming that the CIA is hammering its former Libyan operatives with regular, even monthly, lie detector tests.  These screenings are, allegedly, specifically designed to locate individuals who might speak to Congress or the press.

Sources are claiming that those targeted are being threatened with the destruction of careers and livelihoods - not just for the agent in question, but for their family members too.
“You don’t jeopardize yourself,” CNN’s anonymous source said. “You jeopardize your family as well.”
Normally, CIA employees can expect to face a polygraph ever three or four years. If CNN’s sources are correct, and the Obama administration is engaged in this level of monthly harassment, they must be desperately afraid whatever truth may come out.
