'Not part of MY country' Katie Hopkins slams Theresa May for her 'support' of Sharia law


THERESA MAY'S belief that British people "benefit" from Sharia drew a furious reaction from Katie Hopkins.


The Home Secretary and frontrunner to become the next Tory leader and Prime Minister said back in May .

Mrs May, who is competing with Andrea Leadsom and Michael Gove to lead the Conservative Party, did also warn it was being "misused" and "exploited" to discriminate against Muslim women.

Speaking on LBC, outspoken and controversial commentator Hopkins hit out at the Home Secretary.
She said: "I think it’s absolutely charming – not.

"She said many British people 'benefit a great deal' from Sharia law. Well that’s lovely Theresa May, isn’t it?"

"The day that we have Sharia law implemented in this country is the day that I start getting arrested more often than I already do.

"We should not have Sharia law here in the UK.

"We already have it. There is an undercurrent of Sharia law… that is not correct."

The former Apprentice candidate continued: "It is not part of my country, it is never going to be part of Great Britain."

Mrs May made the comments as she launched a Home Office probe, led by professor Mona Siddiqui, investigating the treatment of women in cases involving divorce, domestic violence and child custody.

She said: "Many British people of different faiths follow religious codes and practices, and benefit a great deal from the guidance they offer.
