Jihadi Jackpot – Gitmo Confessed Murderer Awarded $8 Million Damages

Jihadi Jackpot – Gitmo Confessed Murderer Awarded $8 Million Damages

How is it possible to wrongfully imprison a terrorist who admitted to killing one American in Afghanistan and blinding another with a grenade? It helps their case immensely if they are a citizen of the liberal cesspool that is overflowing across our northern border under Justin Trudeau. Not only is an al-Qaeda affiliated former Guantanamo inmate going to remain free, he’s getting an apology from the Canadian government and $8 million USD in cash.

The lucky terrorist is Omar Khadr, whose jackpot was announced on Tuesday. The anonymous official making the announcement was not authorized to discuss the deal publicly, which was negotiated with Khadr’s lawyers.

Although Khadr is Canadian-born, he was 15 when he was captured by U.S. troops after a firefight at an al-Qaeda compound in Afghanistan. In that gun battle one American special forces medic, U.S. Army Sgt. First Class Christopher Speer, was killed by a grenade and another soldier lost his eyesight.  Khadr was suspected of throwing the grenade and was taken to Guantanamo where he was charged with war crimes by a military commission.

In  2010 Khadr pleaded guilty to charges that included murder and was sentenced to eight years plus the time he had already spent in custody. He returned to Canada two years later to serve the remainder of his sentence. He was released in May of 2015 pending an appeal of his guilty plea, which he claimed was made under duress.

Also impacting the decision was the pressure put on him at an early age to become a terrorist by his terrorist father. Khadr’s lawyers claimed he was pushed into war by his father, Ahmed Said Khadr. AP reports that “their family stayed with Osama bin Laden briefly when Omar Khadr was a boy. Khadr’s Egyptian-born father was killed in 2003 when a Pakistani military helicopter shelled the house where he was staying with senior al-Qaida operatives.” They also point out that following his release in 2015, Khadr apologized to the victims’ families and stated that he rejected jihad.

That’s good for him, but his victims are still dead and blind. The US isn’t the only place where a liberal appointed judiciary has made a mockery of the Justice System. AP reports “The Supreme Court of Canada ruled in 2010 that Canadian intelligence officials obtained evidence from Khadr under ‘oppressive circumstances,’ such as sleep deprivation, during interrogations at Guantanamo Bay in 2003, and then shared that evidence with U.S officials.”

Attorneys for the terrorist filed a $20 million wrongful imprisonment lawsuit against the Canadian government, arguing they violated international law by failing to “protect their own citizen and conspired with the U.S. in its abuse of Khadr.”

The widow of Speer and the other American soldier blinded by the grenade filed a wrongful death and injury lawsuit against Khadr in 2014 fearing he might get his hands on money from his $20 million wrongful imprisonment lawsuit.

A U.S. judge granted $134.2 million in damages in 2015, but the plaintiffs acknowledged then that there was little chance they would collect any of the money from Khadr because he lives in Canada. Is it situations like this that were the reason Obama and Holder were pushing so hard to have their terrorist allies tried in civilian courts and moved to the US? Of course it was, there’s been not one word mentioned by any Democrat of the Gitmo propaganda tool myth since the terrorist Obama left the White House.

They wanted to create situations like this one for their comrades in Gitmo. Fortunately, this was one of the rare instances where Congress stood up to the regime that prevented them from having their way.

Military Commissions of Omar Khadr. This is video of terrorist making IED's that was used in the trial of Omar Khadr. The terrorist videoed themselves making IED's. The videos were captured along with many others that aided in the locating and trials of the terrorist.
