Wallace, issued the following statement today regarding the U.S. House's passage of the Nuclear Iran Prevention Act (H.R. 850), introduced by Rep. Ed Royce, Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Rep. Eliot Engel, the Committee's Ranking Member: We applaud the U.S. House for its overwhelming, bipartisan vote to strengthen Iran sanctions. If passed into law, this legislation would impose a de-facto international blockade on Iran's oil exports, and put unprecedented pressure on the Iranian regime.  For quite some time, the biggest impediment to fully isolating Iran has been the willingness of China, India, and others to keep paying the regime for its oil. The House has now taken powerful action to stop this trade for good. The Iranian regime's hostile policies have led to isolation and economic sanctions. The U.S. and international community are demonstrating that comprehensive pressure will only increase until the regime verifies it has changed course and ended its pursuit of nuclear weapons. ### United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) is a program of the American Coalition Against Nuclear Iran, Inc., a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The prospect of a nuclear-armed Iran should concern every American and be unacceptable to the community of nations. A number of Arab states have warned that Iran's development of nuclear weapons poses a threat to Middle East stability and could provoke a regional nuclear arms race. In short, the prospect of a nuclear armed Iran is a danger to world peace. United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) is a non-partisan, broad-based coalition that is united in a commitment to prevent Iran from fulfilling its ambition to become a regional super-power possessing nuclear weapons.  UANI is an issue-based coalition in which each coalition member will have its own interests as well as the collective goal of advancing an Iran free of nuclear weapons.
