ACT! FOR CANADA NEWSLETTER - JANUARY 25, 2014
“He who dares not offend cannot be honest.”
~ Thomas Paine ~
Harper on Israel:
passionate, sincere — and right
After Stephen Harper’s speech to the Knesset,
we can perhaps put one idea to rest: the notion that his government’s
unwavering support for the state of Israel is mere politics, aimed at sewing up
the Jewish vote and little else. I have been watching Harper for 20 years. This
was Harper to the core, as passionate, sincere and unequivocal as I’ve ever
seen him. He said it because he meant it. And, by and large, he was right.
Canada Takes Its Place at the Table by Caroline Glick
Until Harper
came along, Canada’s foreign policy was mainly characterized by Ottawa’s
enthusiasm for all UN-related things. But Canada’s involvement in the UN never
bought it a place at the table. Down south in Washington, to the extent anyone
thought about Canada at all outside the contexts of oil, beer and hockey, it
was considered a run-of-the-mill NATO ally which occasionally expressed mild
hostility to US power. Under Harper’s leadership, Canada has become a player in
the global arena for the first time. And this achievement owes in large part to
his decision to support Israel.
Canada's Prime Minister: A Display of Rare Courage by Salim Mansur
Academics
such as Peter Jones, writing in Canada's national newspaper, The Globe and
Mail, sneers how the Harper "Conservatives hew to the dictates of the
Israeli right in hopes of securing votes in Canada." What remains
unexplained, however, is how this support for Israel is politically calculated
to be a winner for the Conservatives, when Muslims in Canada outnumber Jews by
almost three to one.
Canada's
embrace of Israel transcends politics and is ethically grounded on moral
principles. As Harper stated, "Canada supports Israel fundamentally
because it is right to do so," because "the special relationship
between Canada and Israel is rooted in shared values."
Does the National Council
of Canadian Muslims really have ties to Hamas?
The National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM), the Canadian branch of
the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), demanded that
Prime Minister Steven Harper drop Rabbi Daniel Korobkin from a delegation
traveling to Israel because Korobkin committed the cardinal sin of introducing
Pamela Geller and me at an event last September in Toronto. The Prime
Minister's office responded by noting the NCCM's ties to Hamas, whereupon the
NCCM threatened to sue.
So does the NCCM have ties to Hamas or not? The superb Canadian site
Point de Bascule answers: "Prime Minister Harper's director of
communications slams the National Council of Canadian Muslims for 'documented
ties to a terrorist organization such as Hamas,'" from Point de
Bascule, January 17:
Canadian PM Blasts CAIR-Canada for Ties to Hamas
The
Office of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has responded to criticism
from the Canadian affiliate of the Council on American-Islamic Relations
(CAIR) by pointing to its “documented ties” to the Hamas terrorist group.
CAIR's ties to Hamas are fully documented. That is not slander or libel, as
CAIR says. Rather, it is the truth that CAIR wants to disguise.
Robert
Spencer discusses how Hamas-linked CAIR’s “Islamophobia”-mongering is designed
— with surpassing cynicism — to make Americans think that any criticism of
Islamic texts that jihadis use to incite violence worldwide threatens and
endangers Muslims at home who don’t approve of that violence in the first
place.
France Recognizes the
Islamic Threat
France
continues to take a strong stance against the spread of Islamic terrorism in
general and the groups associated with al-Qaeda in particular. The United
States and the UN should pay attention.
Japan's Whaling Ship, Used For
'Scientific Research,' Gets Halal Food Certification
Japan's whaling mothership has been awarded a
halal certificate to prove the whales it takes from the Antarctic Ocean are
slaughtered in accordance with Muslim law, a company spokesman said Wednesday.
New Jersey: Muslim freed
from pipe at water treatment plant, faces criminal charges
The jihad threat to the water supply is real.
And as far back as 2002, the feds arrested two jihadis who were carrying plans about how to poison water supplies. In 2003, al-Qaeda threatened to poison water
supplies in Western countries.
In 2011, a jihadi in Spain likewise planned to
poison water supplies.
A
Pakistani Muslim cleric has said that polio vaccinations are un-Islamic. And such “extremist”
clerics are not just in Pakistan: in
Nigeria, a Muslim cleric was arrested for playing a role in sparking the
murders of polio workers. These murders are driven by Islamic supremacist
conspiracy paranoia
This is the kind of story that mainstream analysts
in the West leave their hearers totally unequipped to understand. The line on
Sharia in the West is that it is completely benign, and anyway, impossible to
characterize: “Reza Aslan recalled a saying
that likened the Sharia to water, since “it takes the form of any vessel it is
poured into.”
UK Islamic group condemns website featuring
cartoons of Prophet Mohamed and Jesus
The Muslim Association of Britain (MAB)
published a statement saying that the images were "extremely offensive to
believers" of the two faiths and "potentially inflammatory," and
urged the website's operators to take down the comics at once.
UK: Murders, rapes, honor killings, FGM going
unreported in Sharia no-go zones
Sharia is indeed the future of the UK. The British government is deathly
afraid of the Islamic supremacists, unwilling to confront them, and allowing
these Sharia districts to expand without the slightest resistance. They ban
foes of jihad terror such as Pamela Geller and me from entering the country,
cooperate at the government level with Islamic groups that have ties to the
Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas, and are in hundreds of ways hastening their own
destruction and subjugation.
Stop jerking Canada around by
Charles Krauthammer
Canada, the Saudi Arabia of oil sands,
is committed to developing this priceless resource.
Its natural export partner is the United States. But crossing the border
requires State Department approval, which means the president decides yes or
no. Canadians may be preternaturally measured and polite, but they simply can’t
believe how they’ve been treated by President Obama — left hanging
humiliatingly on an issue whose merits were settled years ago. If Obama wants
to cave to his environmental left, fine. But why keep Canada in limbo? It’s a
show of supreme and undeserved disrespect for yet another ally.
