Trudeau Gives Billions To Foreign Governments, While Rejecting $19 Million For Canadians With Autism

Once again, Trudeau puts Canada last

As I’ve reported, Canada’s foreign aid has reached an all-time record under Justin Trudeau. By some estimates, the government now takes $10 billion of our money and gives it away to foreign governments every year.

This is despite the fact that foreign aid does more harm than good. That’s the point that was made by Angus Deaton – one of the top authorities on global poverty. As the New York Times reported, “Angus Deaton, an expert’s expert on global poverty and foreign aid, puts his considerable reputation on the line and declares that foreign aid does more harm than good. It corrupts governments and rarely reaches the poor, he argues, and it is high time for the paternalistic West to step away and allow the developing world to solve its own problems.”

And yet, Trudeau keeps pouring more and more of our money into the foreign aid pit, depriving Canadians of the benefit that money could bring.

That makes a recent decision by the Trudeau government even more disturbing.

As reported by the National Post, the Conservatives, NDP, and Greens are condemning the Trudeau Liberals for rejecting a plan for a “Canadian autism partnership, an arm’s length body that would advise provinces and territories on programs and services for people with the disorder.”

As Opposition Leader Andrew Scheer said, “Many Canadian families are forced to mortgage their homes to pay for early intervention programs and more than 80 per cent of adults with autism struggle to find meaningful work. When will the prime minister finally listen to these Canadians and reverse his cold-hearted decision to reject the Canadian autism partnership?”
Despite widespread support for the idea, the Trudeau Liberals failed to include it in the latest budget. Then, as the Post reports, “in May the Liberals voted down a private member’s motion, tabled by Conservative MP Mike Lake, that called on the government to fund the partnership.”

Lake has a personal understanding of the issue, as his 21-year-old son Jaden has autism. You would think the Trudeau government could have set aside partisanship in this case, but they clearly failed to do so.

Indeed, the Post notes that Nathalie Garcin – a clinical psychologist from Quebec, says it is something that could have really helped. “I am at a loss for why the government would not go for this. For me, it’s not a partisan issue. I really feel that this is the way to go for Canadians,” said Garcin.

Under Trudeau, it’s “Canada Last”

It’s horrible to think that the Trudeau government could somehow find billions more to give away to other countries, yet can’t even give $19 million over 5 years to help people right here in our own country.

Even worse, we’re actually running a budget deficit while giving away all this money, so we are borrowing money and mortgaging our future in order to give that money away outside our borders.

This is just the latest example of how Trudeau puts Canada last.

When our own citizens need help, whether its our mistreated Veterans, homeless Canadians, those living on reserves that often resemble third-world conditions, seniors struggling to get by, or the many other Canadians who are facing tremendous challenges, the Trudeau government ignores them over and over again, instead spending money on gaining attention outside our country.

It’s disgusting, and it shouldn’t be allowed. The government should not be able to take our money from us through coercive taxation and then spend it outside our country.

Of course, Trudeau would rather chase global headlines than help Canadians. There’s far less attention in supporting Canadian citizens than there is in giving our money away to the world, and we know Trudeau loves foreign attention.

So Trudeau keeps chasing those headlines, and Canadians keep paying the price.
